Parents’ Forum

Purpose and aim

The cooperation between the school and the parents shall be actively encouraged in order to contribute to a positive, open culture of discussion. The Parents’ Forum offers a platform for regular exchanges between a group of parents and the extended school management about all aspects of learning and life in school and boarding. The Parents’ Forum is the voice of our parents and brings their ideas and wishes to the school to support the general school development and strategy.

Role and tasks

  • The Parents’ Forum sees itself as a critical friend”, supportive and positive. It will be informed about the strategic goals of the Lyceum Alpinum and supports them collegially. The school management can ask for opinions and feedback from the Parents’ Forum to inform and support their decisions.
  • The members of the Parents’ Forum see themselves as ambassadors to encourage a positive perception of the Lyceum Alpinum. They represent our school internally and externally, support and contribute ideas without pursuing particular or own interests.
  • In the Parents’ Forum, confidentiality is taken for granted and opinions should be expressed freely.
  • The Parents’ Forum introduces itself to parents in an annual letter and is present at school during the annual parent-teacher days.

Members of the Parents’ Forum

New members of the Parents’ Forum are nominated by the school management and asked to join the Parents’ Forum. The members of the Parents’ Forum can suggest new candidates to the school management.

The Parents’ Forum is a group of a minimum of four and a maximum of eight parents’ representatives of current students from the International Section (at least one boarding and one day parent each), as well as the Matura section (at least one boarding and one day parent each). Members should serve on the Parents’ Forum for at least two years. Once their children have graduated from or left the school, the respective parent will resign from the Parents’ Forum.
