Afternoon Programmes

Our afternoon programmes

Our Summer Camp in Switzerland is the perfect holiday camp if you want to experience something extraordinary. To do this, we come up with special afternoon programmes at the Lyceum Alpinum every year. While you learn a new language or improve your digital skills in a beautiful location, there is a wide range of activities to choose from in the afternoons.

What you can expect

Sport, culture and art – wherever your interests lie, you can live them to the fullest here. And all this under professional instruction:

Each participant of the Golf Academy, for example, is placed in a suitable group according to level. In this way, beginners and advanced players are coached in the best possible way. In the other programmes, too, different areas can be deepened according to interest.

Action! Acting & Filmmaking

Who doesn’t know him? Gian Franco Tordi (Ocean’s Twelve, Ford v. Ferrari, and other Hollywood productions as well as a Lyceum Alpinum alumnus) will return to his old home for a few weeks this summer and will take over the direction of the Film Acting & Filmmaking program at our holiday camp. So, while you perfect your skills in one of the three available foreign languages in the mornings, you will learn everything about film acting and filmmaking in the afternoons – from a real professional!

Here are some examples of the course contents:

  • Stage acting vs film and TV acting
  • Film acting education and technical instruction
  • Directing, filming, camera angles and framing
  • Script writing, public speaking and stage performance
  • Acting warm-up and awareness exercises (body & mind)
  • Audition techniques and improvisation exercises
  • Professional instruction on all subjects of acting and filmmaking
  • A short movie will be produced in class to take home

The course is held in English.

It is always nice to see how the individual characters of the children develop during the Summer Camp. In the beginning, they all start out a little shy, but after the first experience together, the ice is broken, and real friendships are formed. The language courses are also anything but "dry lessons". Due to the small, international groups, real conversations take place with topics that are really interesting and relevant to the kids. It is precisely this social interaction that is so important for our society - something that cannot be taught in any classroom.
Valerie, teacher
I especially like that you get to know many children from all over the world and make new friends. The activities are very different, and the food is always delicious!

Digital Skills — Robotics & Programming

With three options to choose from, students advance at their own pace with guidance from our TechSpark Academy instructors.

1.Build your own digital game with Python: Easily pick up a powerful and fast computer language”

Students are introduced to the powerful world of Python, the language behind some of their favourite platforms like Instagram, YouTube and Google’s search engine.
Python isn’t just any programming language — it’s a powerful tool embraced by coders and game developers worldwide making it a must-know language for anyone aspiring to be a tech wiz. Students code their own projects.

2. Explore Digital Storytelling and Game Design: Create your own digital story or game with MIT’s Scratch”

Students learn to create their own interactive digital stories or games with a personalised and adapted approach. Scratch is designed as an entry level, visual based programming language to encourages kids to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively while getting the grasp fundamental coding concepts.

3. Adventures in robotics with Arduino: Build and program your own robot!”

Robots have an increasing presence in our daily lives. Whether a student is interested in digital intelligence or is a fan of Star War’s R2-D2, this course will allow him/her to build a robot and then learn hands-on robotic programming with Arduino”, a very popular robot programming language.

Language Courses

German, English, French - or simply international?

The best way to learn a language is to hear and speak it daily. Standard teaching, as practised in most schools, often does not exhaust the full learning potential of the students. The language course classes are very small and homogeneous so that all participants learn at the right level in and about the topics that interest them. The German, English and French courses take place every morning before the activities. Which language you choose is up to you and must be specified when you register. All language levels are welcome and will be divided into different groups according to their level.

Open to everyone – international school

As a global school, children from all over the world come to us here in the canton of Graubünden. To exchange ideas with each other, we need a common language here too. The international spirit is also an excellent motivator to learn a language properly. Intercultural friendships are usually formed among the participants, which last far beyond the camp and further promote the writing and speaking of the foreign language.

Summer Camp was extraordinary great. A typical day started with a healthy breakfast and this awesome view at the mountains. Afterwards we had lot of fun during classes and finally, after lunch, we could spend some time with our chosen activity. I was in the theatre group and learned how to express different moods in front of the camera. Time rushes quickly and so the day was over before I realised what I experienced. What I like most about the Summer Camp is that you can make new friends from all over the world. I also like the delicious food and of course the afternoon activities are a lot of fun. You can also learn and improve your language skills in a funny and entertaining way in class.

Summer Activities

Sports, digital workshop, acting classes, golf, football - there is something for everyone at the Summer Camps.

Summer in the Switzerland, in the canton of Graubünden, is worth seeing for the landscape alone. Alpine streams invite you to go rafting, the campus comes to life, and the landscape with its towering mountains is the perfect backdrop for all outdoor activities. Also, the Lyceum Alpinum has several sports fields and its own theatre with professional equipment. Our tutors are professionals in various sports and workshops and can give students valuable guidance.

Teambuilding

Our groups are formed according to performance level and make it possible to support each individual exactly where he or she needs it. For example, if you are holding a golf club in your hands for the first time, you will certainly not join a team with someone who already has a very good handicap. Our tutors are consider the children’s wishes and needs and nurture their talents and their own chosen focus.

Indoors or outdoors

In the summer, there is rarely bad weather here in the Engadine so that all activities can take place. However, our team will organise an attractive alternative programme in adverse weather conditions.
