Events

Every weekend there are activities in which all the pupils spending Saturday/Sunday in Spencer House participate. In addition we organize activities during the week where all the boys are obliged to take part. By doing enjoyable things together we create a sense of community: we make sure that there is something for everybody. Some of these moments spent in good company will last long in the memories of our pupils!

Boarding House Weekend 5/6/7 June 2009

We left on the evening of the 5th June 2009, all very excited and looking forward to our weekend at "Europa Park" in Rust, Gemany. However before getting there, we had the not so exciting prospect of 5 hours on a coach to endure. After some initial teething problems, the DVD player decided to play ball and we could all sit back and enjoy a movie, which helped to pass the time. We arrived late and very tired. Fortunately our hosts at the Gasthof Werneths were still awake and served us an excellent meal.

In the morning we made an early start, managing to arrive at the park at 9.30 am. Let the fun begin! We spent the entire day going from one enormous rollercoaster to the next- Silverstar seemed to be the highlight - A behemoth of a rollercoaster, which was terrifying. You should see the photos. Mr and Mrs Crew spent their time on the teacups and the kids mini rollercoasters. Mr Crew, in particular, was up for the ‘big one" but kept using his kids as an excuse not to go on. Maybe next time…
At 7.00 pm we all headed back to the hotel, tired and looking forward to a good meal and comfortable bed. We were not disappointed. They really know how to serve up a hearty meal in the Schwarzwald.

On Sunday morning we had the prospect of the long and boring trip back to the Lyceum. However the box set of "Meet the Fockers" and "Meet the Parents" helped pass the time, as did the (not so) quick stop at McDonalds. Can you believe two other boarding houses (MI and Chesa) had just arrived before us?

A great weekend was had by all and the boys were really able to relax and let their hair down before the final push towards the Summer break.
