Administration

Illness and accident

It is the responsibility of partners to the contract (usually parents) to take out insurance cover for illness and accident.
Parents resident in Switzerland are required to provide the school with evidence of insurance cover for their child.
Children with parents resident outside Switzerland and the European Union are required to become members of the health and accident insurance scheme provided by the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz.

Third-party liability

Cover against damage or injury claims resulting from accidents, including sport, can be arranged by the school on request. The insurance policy is valid for the entire duration of a student’s stay at the Lyceum Alpinum, including holidays and leisure time even when not spent in Zuoz. The policy provides cover against a claim for injury and damage amounting to CHF 3,000,000, the insured party liable for the first CHF 200.00 Since the premium is very modest and the risks, especially while skiing, are nowadays high, we urgently recommend this policy.

Residence permit

The school office (Sekretariat) will handle applications for and renewal of visas and residence permits.

Leaving the school and period of notice

It is not permissible to cease residing in the boarding house and to continue attending the school.

Since the Lyceum Alpinum is, as a boarding school, dependent on knowing well in advance how many places it has to offer, it requires the partner to the contract to give notice of intention to leave by 30 November for the end of the 1st Semester, and by 30 April for the end of the school year. Notice has to be submitted by registered post and addressed to the Head of School. The terms of the contract remain in force until the end of the following semester should notice be submitted at a later date, whereby the partner to the contract remains liable for payment of the main costs for the said semester. Exempt from these periods of notice are students not promoted at the end of a Semester. In such cases, the Parents may terminate the contract without giving due notice.

The terms of the contract remain in force to the end of the school year for students graduating after their final exams. Special permission is required for students to continue residing in the boarding house after the completion of final examinations.

Absence

No refund will be made in the main costs in the event of absence during school time due to illness, language courses or the like. The school management may grant a reduction in meal costs should an absence exceed four weeks. A refund of meal costs is made in the case of classes graduating before the end of the school year. The deposit is credited to the final invoice.
