Dr Karsten Plöger, Head of DIS

Dr Karsten Plöger graduated from the University of Kiel (Germany) with a Staatsexamen in History, English, and Philosophy before going on to the University of Oxford to pursue his doctoral research. From 2003 to 2007 he was a Research Fellow in Late Medîeval and Early Modern History at the German Historical Institute London. Having obtained his teaching qualification in Berlin, Dr Plöger joined the staff of the Lyceum Alpinum as Deputy Head of Grosshaus and a teacher of Ethics, History, and Politics in the school's IB and Matura/Abitur sections in February 2010. From 7 February to 1 July 2011 he served as Acting Deputy Headmaster. A passionate rower, he is also involved in running the newly established Lyceum Alpinum Boat Club and took the first-ever rowing team to the SMM 2011 on lake Sarnen.
As from school year 2011/12 Dr. Karsten Plöger will take on the responsibilities as Head of the Department of International Studies.
