The DIS6 Visual Arts Exhibit 2010

The beauty in an exhibition is that it provides people with a glimpse into the artist's thought and feelings and it could even be stated that it is a visual representation of a person's soul. The DIS6 exhibition in the Cala this year was no different. It could be described as eclectic, distinctive and charismatic. It featured works from fresh and truely individual perspectives. Michelle Weber's work used vibrant hues, contrasting themes and oozed an overwhelmingly intuitive feel. Alessandro Schneider's work was quirky, inventive, individual and impulsive. The work of Anna Humbaur was highly personal, colourful and combined media in thoughtful ways. Andrea Bellora's work was extremely individual, possessed strong architectural elements and featured well thought out links to artists. The work of Phillip Marquard challenged perspectives and showed risk taking through various media and arrangements. Markus Hääl had highly developed outcomes that asked strong moral questions through the production of relevant and modern issues. Sol Parga's work possessed a strong stirring theatrical aspect and featured superb links to exciting contemporary artists. The technical skills of Andreas Kehrer were exhibited with true class through the production of surrealist pieces on the theme of the strife between man and nature. Andreas' outcomes oozed panache. Laura Schiess utilized a range of materials combined with highly personal and message-driven work to produce some colourful and daring outcomes. Mia Leskinnen focused upon watercolour and pencils to create fantastic tone and mood in her delicate and sometimes melancholic work with immense effect. After the exhibition the DIS6 class talked some teachers and the DIS5 class through their work which led great insight and understanding of the pieces and journeys of each student. It was a superb way to finish the visual arts course, impress the viewers and hand over the reigns to the upcoming fifth class.
